One of my favourite mediums is graphite. I tend to work with Derwent Graphic Pencils 4B to 9B. I started doing portraits in 2013. Several of the pieces on this page are commissions or exhibition pieces.
Watercolour paint is a fairly new medium for me. Although I've used watercolour pencils for some years, the pictures opposite were created using a Winsor & Newton Cotman set of watercolour paints.
Abstract art is something I only started in 2018. Because I work with detail when drawing I've enjoyed the challenge of working in a freer style with liquid acrylics and Pebeo oil paints.
I enjoy working with both Derwent Watercolour & Inktense Pencils. I like the diversity these can bring to a piece of art, providing both control for details and the fluidity of a watercolour paint.
I enjoy creating artwork that expresses strong emotions. I've been involved in several exhibitions using the pieces opposite. One exhibition is called Survivor Art and all the artists involved are survivors of rape or abuse.
After leaving school in 1987 I kept up my artwork for many years by painting landscapes with Acrylic paints. I use Daler Rowney Graduate Acrylics now. The sunset opposite was done with a a palette knife, acrylics and PVA glue.
Since 2014 I have completed a number of private portrait commissions. Opposite are four of my larger commercial commissions. They were completed using acrylics, Derwent Inktense and waterproof outdoor paints.
